Leading up to the big day!
It has been more than a month since I posted on here, and it feels like a lifetime ago. I last wrote when Casey was still in Ohio for training/certification for work, I had just been released from the hospital the previous week for pre-term labor and Wesley was measuring two weeks bigger than he actually was at that time. Casey got back from Ohio on Friday, the 25th, after several hours of traveling due to weather delays. At this point, I was taking a pill every six hours to make sure that I didn't progress in my labor any further so we decided to wait until Sunday after the baby shower to stop taking the pills. We got home that night, started unpacking him but then decided to just go to sleep. On Saturday, the 26th, it was our sixth wedding anniversary. Last year, we got dressed up and went out to dinner at the Timbermine and then we got a suite at the Ben Lomond Hotel; this year we set up the crib and then went to dinner out at Maddox. I was so uncomfortable, so big, that I couldn't even finish my meal, which was really disappointing. On Sunday, I woke up excited and nervous; excited because of the baby shower and nervous because I was going to stop my pills so I was expecting to go into labor that evening. We had a co-ed shower, so friends and family of both sexes were there to help us celebrate Wesley coming into our lives. That evening, we came home with plenty of gifts for Wes, from outfits to diapers and more, so I started laundering the the outfits he would be wearing the soonest and putting everything else away. Casey said I was nesting and we theorized that I was going to go into labor that night. We were excited when I started feeling contractions and we kept waiting for something, anything, more to happen when everything stopped. No contractions, no back pain, nothing. Very frustrating, to say the least. We went to sleep that night feeling let down. Repeat on Monday, contractions and back pain for a couple of hours and then nothing. Tuesday I had a doctor's appointment and we were excited to hear that I had dilated to another centimeter, to a 4 now, and but was still only 70% effaced. My doctor measured Wes and he was still pretty big, just over 7 pounds, but since he had dropped so low that he really couldn't get an accurate size for him. We made my next appointment for the following Monday and headed home. That night, I had a little bit of back pain but no contractions. I started to feel like I would be pregnant forever since I expected to deliver two days earlier. I knew that feeling like that was irrational, I hadn't even reached my due date, but since I had the pre-term labor scare in February I felt like I was already on borrowed time with my pregnancy. On Wednesday, I was really hoping that I would go into labor sine my parents were going to go out of town the next day. Of course, hoping doesn't equal actually happening so no labor that night and the next morning my parents headed out of town for the next nine days. Thursday, Friday and Saturday I felt contractions and back pain off and on, I would get excited and then let down when nothing happened or the labor symptoms stopped. Casey had been taking me out all week long to different places to walk around, hopefully to jump start labor so on Sunday we went to Autorama with some of our friends. We walked around for a couple of hours, enjoying all of the cars and admiring all of the work that went into them. After the auto show we headed to a family birthday party and then headed home. Sunday night I didn't feel anything at all, I became convinced that I would go full term. Oh, if I only knew what was coming!
