Wes' First Birthday!

This last Sunday we had Wesley's first birthday party even though his birthday isn't actually until tomorrow, March 8.  We were going to have it on the Saturday after his birthday but scheduling conflicts with his aunties made it not possible.  Here is a little bit of the action:
Here is his birthday invite, with his Halloween picture

Here is the banner that I made for him.  I have it hanging in our kitchen now, because I forgot to get pictures of it hanging at his party.  We had his party at our complex's clubhouse since we have no room in our house

Here are some of the pictures that I put up, from different stages during this year

One of my sisters got him this sock monkey to measure him by every month and
here are all of his monthly photos together with his birth info

Here is his little "throne" which is just his Bumbo with a little flag banner on the tray.  I found Bananaheads, which are pretty much the bananas from Runts, and put them in cute little bags and my sister made chocolate covered Oreos and had them out for folks to snack on

I made sugar-free chocolate cupcakes with sugar-free banana frosting, some ended up with regular chocolate frosting and (just to be safe) I bought some cookies and cream cupcakes in case we ran out, which we didn't.  I also had extra candies from the goodie bags so I put those out for everyone to snack on

Here is my boogie having fun before the party started

So handsome in his birthday hat!

Here is his birthday cupcake, along with the monkey cake topper I made for him

He wasn't quite sure about the cupcake, he kept sticking his hand in the frosting but wouldn't eat any
until we broke it up into pieces that were smaller for him

He finally got the hang of it and loved it!

Below are some of the cuter pictures of him opening gifts:
Monkey hat!!

Look at this smile!  And for clothes, just like his daddy!

One of my sisters just got back from San Francisco, not two hours before, and got this shirt for him

Super excited for snacks, just like his momma!

Look how excited!

So serious looking at his gifts

Banging on his piggy bank to hear it make noise

Here is the goodie bags that we handed out: silly straws, pixie sticks, tootsie rolls, some of the bananaheads,  a little play doh, a birthday rubber duckie and the little coloring book

Here is what his coloring book was, just folded accordion style

Did he have fun?  I think so, or at least I hope so.  I know that he won't remember it but I will and I am happy that just about everything I wanted to do I did.  I hope that everyone else had a good time and I think that they did, so I declare his birthday party a success!  Casey says next year, it's just going to be cake and ice cream and I agree now but a year is a long time and I already have ideas!
