So Wes is 13 moths old and I can't really use the excuse of "just had a baby" as to my weight gain. I only gained 25 pounds while pregnant so it's not a huge amount to lose but apparently I am not just going to lose the weight by wishing and hoping.
I am at the highest weight I have ever been (not including pregnancy) and I don't like it. So I have decided to change it.
First, I am exercising using my Wii. Lame, I know but I hate to exercise. I HATE it, I loathe it, I detest it. It's not really exercising but it is entertaining and I can change up what I do so it isn't repetitive. I've started with Wii Fit, which is good because it weighs me daily and keeps track of how I'm doing. I also have the Jenny McCarthy exercise game, which kills me but in a good way. I have done a two weeks of exercising so far but I can feel it already.
Second, I am trying to watch what I eat. I have never eaten breakfast but have tried to do so since starting this. Not huge weekend-type breakfasts but oatmeal or boiled eggs. I am also trying portion control, which is really hard for me. I love food, I love to read about it, I love the smell of it and I love to anticipate and enjoy it.
Along with watching what I eat, I am watching my portions. I used to be able to eat as much of anything that I wanted to but cannot anymore. Smaller servings and less snacking, and it's horrible.
Hopefully, all of this will make a difference. I hate to listen to people who complain about something but don't do anything to change it. I am trying to change myself, better myself.

I can't believe it, but Wes is a toddler. We are getting ready to lower his crib to the lowest elevation and I think it is time to take him out of the "nursery" so I have been trying to come up with ideas for Wes' toddler room. Especially now that we are going to be building a home, I want to make this a special room for him. This is my idea board for his room, and I know that I want to add little blue touches in there to pull that bumper fabric into the whole room, not just his bed. I am probably going to make the floor poufs, if I can, so I may do them in a burlap and try to dye it? Or if I can find a good fabric I'll just go with that. I found some great pins on Pinterest here and here.
I want to try to start slowly making stuff so that when the house gets built, it'll all be done and we will just have to put it together. I like the beadboard but I am thinking of doing a chair rail, with two-tone paint; that may be an easier option than installing the beadboard walls. We have all of his sock monkeys that are going in there as well, maybe sitting on a shelf. I really want to make his bedroom a restful place so hopefully no toys, those will be in another room altogether.
I'm going to make some more artwork for his walls, maybe some sock monkey paintings and more photos of him, maybe some of my maternity pictures. I love these bookshelves, so I want to do them as well. Do the colors work together? Did I miss anything? Feedback, please!

Feels like forever, but it's only been a month!
So I thought that it has been a few months since I posted on here, but it's only felt like a few months. I swear it seems like I am always busy but nothing ever gets done.
March just flew by. With Wesley's birthday at the beginning of the month, March started at a fast pace and just kept going that way. We started the hunt to purchase a home the first weekend of the month. At least once a week we went out with our agent (and my cousin) Chaunny, sometimes more than once a week with her. I honestly didn't think that we were so picky, but it turns out we kind of are. We wanted to stay in southern Davis county, from Centerville to North Salt Lake; we wanted at least three bedrooms and two baths, but preferred four beds and three baths; hopefully a basement and third car garage; newer would be nice; and a minimum of .20 acreage. We ended up really concentrating on North Salt Lake, in the Foxboro neighborhood, since the whole area was built in the last ten years and really fit most of what we wanted. We put two offers, on two very different homes.
The first was a for sale by owner and it was three bed, two bath but open and bright. We actually saw it on our first day out and loved it, completely willing to give up the basement and third car garage because we really felt so good there. However, the owners seemed to want us to get into a bidding war with another family. We offered exactly what they asked and even changed our move-in date to one that was convenient for them, and then they came back to us asking if we could improve our offer. As Casey put it, he didn't want to get screwed nor be the instrument used to screw someone else, we waited to see if they would counter and when they didn't we lost out. Okay, a little frustrating since we were already picking furniture and paint, which I can see now was a bit premature.
The second was a short sale, that we saw on our second time out. This house was huge, like almost 3000 square feet, and had three (finished) bedrooms, the third car garage we wanted, a basement with room for at least two more bedrooms or one huge room. It had a great yard and was great, but we were too late. There was already an offer in to the bank on it, but we decided to go ahead and still submit a backup offer. We just had bad timing on this one, unfortunately, because it became the benchmark to which we kept comparing every other home that we saw.
After looking at just about every home (in our parameter) in Centerville, Bountiful, West Bountiful, Val Verda, Woods Cross, North Salt Lake, and even a few in Farmington, we have decided to build. Yay! Or not, I have had a stress stomach ache for a couple of days now. We first had to purchase the lot, which is in Woods Cross (close to Lorena's for those of you who know where that is).

So, as of today, we are 90% sure that we have the lot and are going to start planning what we want in the house itself so we can draw up that contract. We picked out colors last week, but are still looking at color schemes that we like. Initially we were leaning towards gray tones, but aren't sure if that will be too dark. Who knows? Not us for sure. I've still got some researching to do online to see other craftsman color schemes. As for stuff that we want in the house, we are going to add the third car garage for sure and the grand master bath instead of the fourth bedroom upstairs, but other than that we are still trying to figure out what is a must have and a want. I anticipate a long summer while this gets built but hopefully it will be peaceful process.
